When I became an actress I quickly realize that the world liked their latinos to look Italian. Not like me. So I wasn’t going up for Latina parts. I was going up for African American parts. […]

Regardless of the fact that I spoke the language better and understood the culture better, those [stereotypical latina] weren’t the parts that…I could take seriously. Suddenly you have to explain why I look how I look. And then it gets complicated. And nobody wants complicated.

I miss Zoe. I think of little Zoe stories and where she would be. And Wash  is alive. x

That particular scene, it’s less about pride and more about knowing and expecting how Harvey reacts… She needs him to play ball in a certain way… Jessica sort of has a plan. And Jessica’s plan for Harvey is that she really needs him to grow a soul.

Zoe’s presence is more often more important than anything than she can say. When she speaks, it’s always for a reason ; for a particular reason. She’s just not talking just to be talking. I think that if Zoe is displeased or if she’s happy, we want to feel like the temperature is literally changing in the room and that was my job. To make it feel that if the room was cold, a happy turn would come in and Zoe would be pleased.
